I’m Brad, a Software Engineer originally from the Caribbean and now based in London. My path into tech wasn’t a straight line, I started out in Audio Engineering, working on film and television sets. That experience taught me how to stay creative under pressure, adapt quickly, and collaborate with all kinds of people. Those lessons still shape the way I approach software today
For the past four years, I’ve been one of the main developers at Scouty, often taking on the challenge of being the only engineer on the team. I built and shipped new features, kept the codebase healthy, and handled deployments end to end. One highlight was introducing equipment and vehicle rental to the platform, which helped Scouty expand its services and grow its revenue. That time taught me how to be resourceful, learn fast, and take ownership of projects from start to finish.
These days, I specialize in full-stack web development. I’ve worked across a wide mix of technologies from HTML and SCSS through to modern JavaScript frameworks, with a particular focus on Next.js. I enjoy how it allows me to build fast, scalable, and user-friendly applications while keeping the developer experience smooth. What excites me most isn’t just the tools, though, it’s the challenge of solving real problems and seeing the impact of the work
At the heart of it, I love creating things that are useful, reliable, and meaningful and I’m always up for the next challenge.
On the side, I’m building Rentr, a property management web app designed to simplify how landlords and tenants manage rentals. It’s also my sandbox for experimenting with new tech — I’ve been working with Next.js, Drizzle, Clerk, UploadThing, and a few other tools to push myself beyond my day-to-day stack and explore modern approaches to full-stack development.
This audiobook app is a side project I started while teaching myself React Native. The app includes core playback controls and progress tracking, and while it’s still a work in progress, it’s been a great way for me to experiment with mobile development and refine my skills.
This was a grid based game written in JavaScript. It is similar to snake and tron. I utilized array methods, keyboard event listeners and setIntervals to achieve player movement. A goal was randomly set within the borders of the grid and whenever the position of the head of the snake equaled the position of the goal the player received a point and the setInterval decreased, thus speeding up the players movement.
I have an obsession with audiobooks, specifically audiobooks about science, but a good fiction or biography is great too. It doesn't matter which branch of science either. You name it, I will consume it. I love learning and with audiobooks I can listen at double the speed which finishes the book faster and gets me to the next book quicker. It's the closest I've come to “downloading” content to my brain.
Recording and mixing sound for film and television has been a passion of mine ever since I was a teenager. Creating sounds of creatures that don’t exist or making a punch sound like it broke bones is one of my favorite ways to be creative while working on a film. Before becoming a web developer, I used to work as an audio engineer in the film industry in London, now I do it just for fun.
As a side project I plan to create a google chrome extension similar to the now extinct stumble upon. I loved that chrome extension so much that I want to create it myself. At the click of a single button, it took you to different websites based on your interests. Many hours of my life were occupied mindlessly clicking that button repeatedly.
